The Kingdom is at Hand
The nights are getting longer, but we believe that the Light shines in the darkness. Jesus started his ministry by telling people to repent, because “the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
The same holds true for us today. Perhaps, more now than ever, we need to repent. We must examine our lives and root out the attachments that lure us away from the narrow path that leads to heaven.
Indeed, the world filled with darkness and temptations, but we must not lose hope. The light of Christ dispels all darkness. Christ is the King. He has conquered death, and his kingdom has indeed come among us. He is with us, most notably in the Blessed Sacrament.
Saint John Paul II said, “There is no evil to be faced that Christ does not face with us. There is no enemy that Christ has not already conquered. There is no cross to bear that Christ has not already borne for us, and does not now bear with us. And on the far side of every cross we find the newness of life in the Holy Spirit, that new life which will reach its fulfillment in the resurrection.”
Yes, the nights are getting longer, but it is only in the darkness when we can see the stars. Despite the darkness, we know that the King is alive, and His light will illuminate the night.
