PRAYER OF SPOUSES FOR EACH OTHER

Lord Jesus, grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we always bear with one another's weaknesses and grow from each other's strengths. Help us to forgive one another's failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness and the spirit of placing the well-being of one another ahead of self.

May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection. Amen.

PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH

O St. Joseph, we have recourse to you in our need.  We have sought Mary's help.  We confidently ask your protection also.  By the love which united you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and by the fatherly affection with which you cherished the child Jesus, we pray that you would watch over us whom Jesus purchased by His precious blood, and help us in our needs by your power and strength.

Watchful guardian of the Holy Family, keep us from all error and corruption.  Valiant defender, aid us in the conflict with the powers of darkness.  As you rescued the child Jesus from danger, so now defend God's Church from all deceit and adversity.  Shelter us under your protection.  May we follow your example and be strengthened by your help.  Let us live a holy life, die a happy death and attain endless joy in heaven.  Amen.

ST. JOSEPH PRAYER FOR THOSE SEEKING WORK

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work.  For those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the Patron of Workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellow men and earn a just salary.

You are the Patron of Families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means.  Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders.

Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions.  May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood.  Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underpriviledged countries.

PRAYERS FOR YOUR FAMILY

The impact of a father/husband praying for and blessing his wife and children is more powerful than can be understood.  A man who has been given the honor of being a father takes his title from God the Father.  He is the head of the Domestic Church, the family, as Pope John Paul II taught us during his time as the Holy Father.  The enemy, Satan, fears a man who will be the true warrior that God calls him to be and pray over, for and with his family.  When a husband/father brings the sacramental of holy water to the battlefield the demons flee, as St. Teresa of Avila said during her life in the 16th century, "I often experience that there is nothing the devils flee from more-without returning-than holy water."  If a man truly desires to protect and care for his family then he must have recourse to constant and vigilant prayer.  The use of sacramentals such as holy water add a powerful punch to driving back the enemy in the daily battle.

The following are a few different ideas of blessings for your wife and children.  It is a good idea to pray over and bless your wife and children on a daily basis.  As you become more comfortable with this and the understanding of the need for this grows you will find yourself praying more spontaneously.  Remember to pray with confidence in God's grace.  God does not want us to be timid in our prayer to Him!  He wants us to trust Him!

BLESSINGS FOR WIFE AND CHILDREN - I

While tracing the Sign of the Cross on the top of their head or on their forehead with a drop or two of holy water say: "In the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, may God send His angels and His saints to protect you from every evil and harm, natural and supernatural."

BLESSINGS FOR WIFE AND CHILDREN - II

This prayer is especially powerful for babies and small children.  Tracing the Sign of the Cross on the head or forehead and as you touch each part of the body of your child with a drop of holy water say: "In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, may you always know God...

Eyes - May you only see what honors God...

Ears - May you only hear what honors God...

Mouth - May you only speak words that honor God...

Hands - May you only do what God would have you do...

Feet - May you only go where God would have you go.
